life in the world
August 2026
Dear Parish Families,
Have you had the opportunity to extend the invitation yet? What invitation you might ask? The invitation to someone else to join us on the journey of faith through our OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process. Our two parishes are joining together with Our Lady of Angels to discover how and where God might be calling them and planting within them the seeds of faith.
How are they going to hear that invite? Through you and through me. If you know someone who isn't Catholic and is interested in learning more about our faith, please invite them to contact me at the Parish Office. We can sit down and discuss the process and I can make the connections.
I would love to Baptize and Confirm some new members of our faith journey at our next Easter Vigil! Please pray about who you might be able to extend the invitation to as well as for those who are considering God's call in their lives.
Please know that you 're in my prayers & please keep me in yours!
Fr. John

AN UPDATE TO THE UPDATE ON OUR PARISH ENVELOPES
Have you experienced issues in getting your offertory envelopes in the mail? If you have, you're not alone. I'm sure many are aware that for what seems like almost a year now, and perhaps it has been, we have been dealing with issues with our offertory envelope distribution company. From supply chain issues to production issues, it has seemed like there has been one problem or issue after another.
In light of the consistent issues we've made the decision to switch envelope production companies as of last week. Beginning in September our offertory envelopes will be being produced and shipped by a new company. Both parishes offertory envelopes will now be shipped on a bi-monthly basis (the way it has been for St. Vincent de Paul & new for St. Patrick's). The envelopes themselves may look a bit different as well, but other than that everything should hopefully return to normal as far as envelope production and delivery go.
We apologize for the inconveniences over the past year and appreciate your patience!
"Proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching." --2 Timothy 4:2
CRUISE-IN & ICE CREAM SOCIAL 2026
Thank you to Jeff & Shelia Quinn and their amazing team of volunteers for a successful & enjoyable Cruise-In Car Show and Ice Cream Social last week. The weather cooperated beautifully and around 80 classic cars and their owners made their way to the parking lot. Thanks to all who volunteered, all who attended, and congratulations again to all our winners! Hope to see you at the show next year!
JOINT PARISH PICNIC AND RAFFLE
Don't forget that our Joint Parish Picnic is this Sunday, August 16th, starting at noon on the grounds of St. Patrick's. The day promises to be a wonderful opportunity for both parishes to come together in friendship and fellowship. There'll be sideboards, raffle baskets, food, and more!
For those who are feeling lucky, you can pick up your raffle tickets for a chance to win $1000, $500, or $300. Tickets will be available at the picnic as well. Good luck!
INTRODUCING "PICNIC BUCKS"
Brand New at this year's Joint Parish Picnic!
These are not meant to replace regular old cash, that will still be accepted as usual. But, if you prefer using a credit card or are running low on cash, you can purchase "Picnic Bucks" for the raffle baskets, sideboards, and more.
Just stop by the designated table at the picnic and make a contribution through our online giving site to get yours. Hope to see you there next Sunday, August 16th, starting at Noon!
These "Picnic Bucks" are not designed to replace regular cash, that will still be accepted just like in the past. There's no need to do any type of "currency exchange." This is more meant to provide an alternative for those who might want/need it
DIVINE MERCY HOLY HOUR
Our next Divine Mercy Holy Hour will be held this Sunday, September 6th. At 3:00 pm, the great hour of God's mercy, Fr. Robert will lead us in the Divine Mercy Novena along with some time before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament in Eucharistic Adoration. All are welcome to come and pray, rejoicing in God's abundant mercy! Our Divine Mercy Holy Hours are hosted at St. Vincent de Paul.
Jesus, I trust in you!
ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY
Looking ahead on the liturgical calendar, this Saturday, August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and it is normally a Holy Day of Obligation. This year, however, since August 15th falls on a Saturday, it is not a day of Obligation.
That day (August 15th) we will celebrate a 9:30 am Mass at each parish in honor of our Blessed Mother. Our regular weekend schedule for the 20th Sunday of Ordinary Time will be as usual on Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you! Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus!
